About This Product

Mission Darkness Forensic Crack Cabinet - Charging and Storage Cabinet for Digital Forensics Labs

The Mission Darkness™ Forensic Crack Cabinet is a secure, high-capacity charging and storage cabinet designed for digital forensics labs to keep seized mobile devices powered and cooled during prolonged passcode cracking and data extraction processes.

The cabinet is constructed with a durable frame and transparent acrylic walls and shelves, which allow the user to clearly view contents inside and device screens. It includes fully equipped compartments with all necessary charging components to charge up to 18 devices at the same time (or 30 devices if this product variation in required). The complete system ensures that device organization, visibility, and power are never compromised, providing a seamless process for forensic investigators.

Read the blog Enhancing Efficiency in Digital Forensics with the Mission Darkness Forensic Crack Cabinet to learn how the cabinet is used and why it’s the preferred mobile device charging cabinet for digital forensics.

Use with Passcode Unlocking & Data Extraction Tools:

Forensic investigators are often working with a vast collection of devices at various stages of passcode unlocking, making it tedious and time consuming to tap phone screens one by one to determine the device state and if the passcode has been cracked. The ability to flip a single switch in order to instantly illuminate all phone screens saves time and helps with overall lab management. The simple steps below explain how to use the Forensic Crack Cabinet in accordance with passcode unlocking tools.

  1. Once a device is disconnected from a passcode unlocking tool and the program is running, place the device (and any relevant paperwork/case files) on an empty cabinet shelf.
  2. Connect the device to power using the USB A-male to A-female extension cable fed through the cable hole, plus the compatible cable tip (lightning, micro USB, and USB-C cable tips are included with each cable set). If needed, the device’s charging port can be cleaned with a DataPort Swab for reliable power connection.
  3. Toggle the master power switch as needed to cycle power to illuminate device screens; this instantly shows if a passcode has been cracked.

Serialised: Each cabinet has a unique serial number for asset tracking and evidence chain-of-custody documentation.

Compatible With Charge & Shield Faraday Bags:

If the device requires RF shielding while it is being charged inside the cabinet, you can utilize Mission Darkness™ Charge & Shield Faraday Bags. The dual-sided USB filter in the bag enables you to connect the device to a power source while it remains isolated from RF signals. If using the Windowed Charge & Shield bags, the clear window on the front allows you to monitor the device state and when the passcode is cracked.

When using with the Forensic Crack Cabinet, simply place a device inside the Charge & Shield Faraday Bag, connect the device to the interior side of the USB filter, close the bag, then connect the exterior side of the USB filter to the power cable inside the cabinet compartment. When data extraction or device analysis is to occur, disconnect the power cable connected to the outer side of the USB filter, remove the Charge & Shield Faraday Bag from the cabinet, and transfer it into a forensic Faraday box, like the Mission Darkness™ BlockBox Lab XL. The bag can be easily opened inside the box (the magnetic NeoLok closure reduces Faraday glove abrasion) while the device is passed into the shielded enclosure. Additional Charge & Shield Bag uses and benefits can be viewed on the product page.

Passcode Breaking & Brute-Force

Keeps multiple devices charged indefinitely so they don't enter "lockout mode" or wipe due to inactive batteries, while forensic software attempts to break passwords.

Long-Term Evidence Storage

Secures large volumes of digital evidence in a physically locked and organized state alongside related case files and paperwork.

Active Thermal Management

Uses a built-in cooling system to prevent device processors from overheating and batteries from swelling during intensive data extraction.

At-a-Glance Monitoring

Transparent acrylic walls and centralized power allow investigators to check screen statuses instantly (to see if a passcode has been cracked) without physically handling individual devices.

Network/RF Isolation

Can be used in conjunction with Mission Darkness Charge & Shield Faraday Bags, allowing the device to charge through filtered USB connections while blocking all wireless signals to prevent remote wiping.

Power Failure Alerts

Sends instant SMS or email notifications to lab administrators if the unit loses power, ensuring the chain of custody and evidence integrity is never accidentally compromised.
